12 Easy Ways to Decorate Your Garden
Many people dream of changing their garden completely, redesigning it from top to bottom. This is, of course, great. But are such radical changes necessary? The season is beginning, and at the dacha, you want first of all to relax, and not carry out a garden “overhaul”. So is there any know-how to get everything at once? We offer you as many as 12 ways to decorate your garden so that it looks new, and you enjoy relaxing in it.
#Method 01: Bet on plants
Plants are what any land makes a garden. Plant new conifers, ornamental shrubs, and flowers: there are a lot of interesting things on sale now. They will immediately give the garden a new look.
Take a closer look at plants that are new to you and at new varieties of those that you already grow. Expand your green collection!
#Method 02: Add water features to your garden
This remedy is classified as “potent” because it completely changes the idea of the garden. Arrange at least a small water element in the garden. No need for grandiose projects. A tiny pond made of film, an old baby bath dug into the ground, or any other container will be enough.
You can use a ready-made plastic mold; there are many different options. Or arrange a fountain instead of a pond. The most interesting and useful materials about organizing a reservoir will help you cope with this task.
In general, the main thing is not how big the reservoir is, but how its coastline is designed. However, the water element does not necessarily mean real water. Symbols can also be used. For example, make a “dry” pond or dry stream from pebbles, glass pebbles, colored gravel, or flowers.
#Method 03: Decorate the garden with stones
Natural stone never hurts even in the garden. Firstly, it is always beautiful and very natural. It is no coincidence that in Japanese-style gardens (and they are one of the most exquisite) special attention is paid to the contemplation of stones. Secondly, the stone will give the garden the missing relief without building expensive retaining walls.
The relief can be successfully imitated by stones of different sizes, laid in various combinations. Just stones, not even alpine slides or rockeries. You can get creative and arrange free compositions from stones, plants, and other elements to suit your taste.
#Method 04: Make at least one new flower bed
Not just like that, but with an idea, with a “zest”: maybe it will be an author’s composition of flowers, a flowerbed of an unusual shape or type. Or maybe you use interesting, not like everyone else, materials to frame your flower bed.
There are so many interesting ideas on this topic! For example, a flower garden in a boat, in a cartwheel or an old umbrella, a flower garden-painting, letters made of flowers, a hedgehog flower garden, a flower bed in a basket, a host garden or a sedum garden on the roof of a small decorative hut, etc.
#Method 05: Install beautiful plant supports
Any supports (but not too small) are an excellent spatial element that changes the appearance of the garden. One arch, a new trellis or pergola, an obelisk, or a screen is enough to transform the garden. What is good about vertical supports is that they decorate the garden in winter, and also because they can be bought ready-made and installed on the site.
#Method 06: Arrange original containers for flowers
These mobile flower beds add so much beauty to the garden! And they can be decorated as easily as possible: just paint them, decorate them with decoupage, shells, and beautiful ropes, cover them with pebbles, cover them with textured plaster, or “age” them.
You can also use quite unexpected objects as containers; they will bring creativity and imagination to the garden (for example, an old large iron, a barrel, or… a rubber boot). If you make at least one original, not-too-small container, you will help the garden look new.
#Method 07: Buy new garden accessories
More bright details – more sense of novelty. One or two interesting and funny garden figurines that match your site and its design will give you a miracle. They will make you happy!
#Method 08: Install new lamps
But no need to install electrical wiring! Let’s do it simpler: purchase and install beautiful solar-powered garden lamps.
There are all kinds: for every taste, all shapes and sizes. There are even lamps in the form of animal figures. And they don’t cost much. In addition, you can change the lighting scenario of the area as you wish, each time arranging the lamps in a new way.
#Method 09: Arrange an original miniature in the garden
The author’s garden miniatures are, as a rule, small compositions of plants and various accessories, made in the form of finished images or plot scenes. Accessories can be anything – from colored gravel, driftwood, and woodcuts to laser CDs, ceramic tiles, and even… some pieces of furniture. The main thing is to find a suitable “scenario”!
For example, you can make an “onion garden”. This is a small composition, no more than 1 sq.m., which is similar to a small rock garden, only instead of alpine plants, clumps of perennial onions are planted there: for example, chives, spring onions, slime onions, sweet onions, multi-tiered onions. And the “onion garden” is complemented not by stones, but by colored ceramic figures of simple shapes and varying heights, which can serve, for example, as miniature pots for cacti.
If you want something unusual and at the same time useful, try making a “mushroom garden”. Cultivated mushrooms, such as oyster mushrooms and shiitakes, can be placed in a beautiful arrangement of roots, stumps, and driftwood. You also need to add wild or garden flowers (mostly “ecological” style), sedges, ferns, and a garden figurine: for example, a cute forest tree.
#Method 10: Arrange a garden module
A garden module is a flower garden or any composition of plants that is arranged in the paving: for this, several tiles are removed from the paving. The module can be provided in advance, even during the construction of the site. He is always effective. The impression it makes is incomparable to its size. Even a tiny module can become the main accent of the garden.
The garden module visually increases the space of the corner of the garden where it is located, and helps to express any design ideas: it is not necessary to plant plants in it, you can arrange a rock garden or even a tiny pond.
#Method 11: Add exotic touches to your garden
It is not at all necessary to have truly exotic, rare plants in your garden. Moreover, our goal is an easy-care garden. You can add exotic touches to your garden using other, most ordinary plants. True, they should have an exotic appearance. For example, why not use black or maroon tulips, pink or white marigolds, green primroses, gladioli, zinnias, or marigolds?
#Method 12: Place “the thing everyone talks about” in the garden
It should be a noticeable, bright, unusual, characteristic accessory that will immediately attract everyone’s attention and become a topic of conversation. The idea of such a thing is entirely up to you. It can be anything, but, of course, it must “fit” into the context of your garden. Good examples are an unusual sculpture, an original design for vertical gardening, or a creative panel for the facade of a gazebo.
